  2. The a2 Protein Difference

The A2 Type Protein Difference

Our a2 Milk® comes from cows specially selected to naturally produce milk with only A2-type protein. Many people say they can feel the difference.

Why a2?

Not all milk is the same. At The a2 Milk Company, we believe that early nutrition should be both gentle and grounded in science. That’s why we use milk from specially selected cows that naturally produce only the A2 beta-casein protein—never A1. It’s a small difference that may make feeding a little easier for little tummies*.

Only Extraordinary Cows

We start with something truly rare: cows that naturally produce only the A2 beta-casein protein. These cows are hand-selected and DNA-tested to ensure they never produce the A1 protein found in most conventional milk.

This isn’t genetic modification—it’s nature, carefully chosen.

Their milk forms the foundation of our a2 Platinum® range, helping us deliver high-quality nutrition with care from farm to formula.

More Information

A2 beta-casein is one of the primary milk proteins. Some people—especially infants—find it easier to digest than A1 beta-casein, which may cause discomfort in sensitive individuals.

Supporting Your Family's Feeding Choices

We believe breastfeeding is best to provide ideal nutrition for babies, and other important health benefits. Good nutrition for mums is important throughout pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding. However, we understand breastfeeding may not be an option for everyone. To support you on your feeding journey, we recommend speaking to a healthcare professional. Introducing formula either partially or exclusively may reduce breast milk supply, which isn’t easy to re-establish. It is also important to consider the social and financial impacts of formula, such as potential cost of providing formula until your baby is 12 months old. When using infant formula, always follow the preparation instructions carefully. Improper use can make your baby unwell. Information about our infant formula products is for educational and informational purposes only.
